Examinations
There shall be a examiantion for Diploma in Pharmacy (Part-I) as well as Diploma in Pharmacy (Part-II) to examine the First Year and Second Year course respectively. each Examination is held twice a year i.e Annual Supplementary for both Part - I and Part - II courses.
The Examiantion shall be of written and practical (viva-voce included) carrying maximum marks 80 for practical for each subject.
Sessional Exams
There shall be two or more periodic sessional (Internal Assessment) Examinations during each academic year. The duration of the sessional Exam shall be 90 minutes the highest aggregate of any two performances shall form the basis of calculating the sessional marks. The scheme of the question paper for the theory sessional Examinations shall be as given below.
I. Long Answers (Answer 3 out of 4) = 3 x 5 = 15
II. Short Answers (Answer 5 out 6) = 5 x 3 = 15
III. Very Short Answers (Answer 5 out 6) = 5 x 2 = 10
Total = 40 Marks
Internal Assessment : The marks secured by the students out of the total 40 Marks shall be reduced to 20 in each sessional, and then the internal assessment shall be calculated based on the best two averages for 20 marks.
Minimum Marks for passing the Exam
A student shall not be declared passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Exam unless he / she secures at least 40% marks ineach of the subjects separately in the theory exam including sessional marks as well as 40% marks in each of the pratical exam including sessional marks.
The candidates securing 60% marks and above in aggregate in all subjects in a single attempt at the Diploma in Pharmacy ( Part - 1) or Diploma in Pharmacy ( Part - II) examination shall be declared to have passed with distinction in that subject or those subjects proved he / she passess in all the subject in single attempt.
Eligibility for promotion to Diploma in Pharmacy (Part - II)
All the candidate who have appreared for all the subjects and passed the Diploma in Pharmacy (Part - I) exam are eligible for promotion to the Diploma in Pharmacy (Part - II) examiantion shall be declared to have passed with distinction in that subject or those subjects proved he / she passess in all the subjects in a single attempt.
Practical Training
After satisfactory completion of the Diploma in pHarmacy (Part - I & II), a canddiate shall be eligible to undergo practical training in a hospital or Drug manufacturing unit recognized by the PCI. The training shall not be less that 500 hours spread over a period of not less that 3 months.
ADMISSION
Total intake will not be more than 60 per year. Selection will be based on purely merit, by conducting an interview as per the guidelines of Govt. Karnataka and P.IC.I New Delhi.
COURSE OF STUDY FOR D. PHARMA
Duration of course shall be for 2 academic year with each academic year spread over a period not less than 180 working days ina ddition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less that 3 months.
